I ordered Fable III today. I can't wait to get it. What I love most about the Fable games is the way your character changes. Tonight I kept brainstorming about it in bed. The only way to get it out of my head was to put it on paper. I thought of Vladmir, a kid who lived during the industrial revolution. Born a pauper, became a king.

A warm-up exercise
My copy in 2B and 4B pencil.
Mme. Pierre Gautreau by John Singer Sargent
My copy overlaid on Sargent's.
It's clear to see on the overlay image I pushed the curves too far. At Art Center I was taught to exaggerate rather than to understate. Slight exaggeration can loosen drawings up and kill stiffness, that's goood. I think that was good advice because it got me to push things farther. Now it seems I need to focus and be more subtle with my line.

My larger forehead makes her look younger. I think Madame Gautreau would have appreciated that.

Exercise: A "real" perspective drawing
This exercise is about using "sighting."
Sighting is a skill artist use to maintain proportion by comparing relative shapes or lines to each other. This exercise tells artist to hold their pencil at arms length and use their thumb to measure an object in the real world. Once they have that measurement, they can find the proportion of everything else relative to it.
I don't like to use this method when I draw. During a model session, when you hold up your arm, stick out your tongue and squint one eye as you meticulously measure the length of the model's arm to their thigh is embarrassing. I like the old fashioned way of just drawin'.

Film Studies: Around the World in 80 Days 90/100
Only 10 left!
I'm all caught up in True Blood. I love that show. I wouldn't mind becoming a vampire. If I didn't have to hunt humans all night, I'd drink Tru Blood and draw instead. I'd have many lifetimes to become the best vampire artist. I wonder if my mind would change so much that all my art would be real morbid. My only color would be blood. I sound insane.

The game "DUMPED"
These are part of a pitch for a Facebook game I designed. The game is created by Oliver Robins based off his film "Dumped" from 2000.
This project was so much fun. I got really into it and drew everything, besides the Sprite and clothing logo's. Oh and the PayPal logo. But all those rings, and purses.... It was all good.
